GENERAL RULES
The SDSFF prides itself on being a filmmaker’s festival. We don’t have too many rules and the ones we do have are only to make it easier to promote all of the films the best we can.
2013 SDSFF Deadlines cannot be changed.
Dawn Patrol submissions: Nov 1- Dec 31, 2012.
Regular submissions: Jan 1- March 15, 2013.
SDSFF “OFFICIAL SELECTION” films announced March 25, 2013.
All HD files must be received by April 8, 2013.
Send via hard drive for large files. Hard drives can be picked up by filmmaker during the festival or returned by mail.
If you have a dropbox, you can use this method to send smaller files (often a preferred method for most short films).
All HD files must be in the following quicktime formats (.mov): ApplePro Res or H.264.
NO OTHER FORMATS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
2013 SDSFF Submission Form must be complete.
Feature films are longer than 20 minutes and shorts are 20 minutes or less.
Films must be submitted via password protected online link (Vimeo, for example.) Our film panel is all over the world and shipping DVDs will not work.
Upon selection to the 2013 SDSFF, each filmmaker will provide 2 DVDs to the SDSFF. We will be projecting from an HD file but will request back-up DVDs. Each DVD must be labeled with Title, Director, Contact Info, Running Time and Aspect Ratio (4x3 or 16x9)
Films must have been completed after January 1, 2010.
Fee waivers are not available.
Entry Fee is non-refundable.
No music videos, PSAs, commercials or blatant advertising.
More than one entry may be submitted. Each film entry must be accompanied by it’s own entry fee and submission form.
Filmmaker’s agree to the use of up to 3 minutes of their films by the SDSFF for promotional purposes.
Filmmakers will assume shipping costs of film materials to the SDSFF. We will take care of shipping drives back.
Titles produced in languages other than English must have legible English subtitles.
The screening committees' decisions are final.
SDSFF accepts payment through PayPal.
SDSFF reserves the right to make any necessary changes in regulations or 2013 SDSFF scheduling.
Thank you and good luck.
